'Do you fancy a buddhist monk?'. Film and performance by Jadran Sturm & Åsa Lie. Brussels, 2011.

How US intellectuals after the colonisation of Japan and war in Vietnam tried to purify themselves by converting to Buddhism, and most of the western intellectuals followed. How they transformed this into a 'love & peace' movement with a besserwisser attitude. Dan Graham suggested that if I want to become a successful artist I should become a Buddhist monk.

Includes: Statements said by the Austrian author Thomas Bernhard in 1986 when he was interviewed by Werner Wögerbauer in Vienna, which we read. The Vietnamese Buddhist monk who burned himself to death in Saigon 11 June 1963 during the Vietnam war.
